James Spears, the father of Britney Spears, was named her temporary conservator, putting him in control of her welfare a day after she was hospitalized for a psychiatric evaluation, The Associated Press reported. In addition, after a hearing in California Superior Court he was named a conservator, along with the lawyer Andrew Wallete, of the singer’s estate. The court also issued a restraining order against Ms. Spears’s friend and sometime manager, Sam Lutfi, and gave permission to change the locks on her estate and remove anyone there. Ms. Spears, shown above outside a hearing last month regarding visitation rights for her two children, will be under conservatorship at least until Monday, when another hearing will be held.
